Myla BnW

The Ride for a Friend organizers and hard working volunteers would like to introduce you to Myla Liao of Sudbury.

Myla, born in May of 2020, is a bright and resilient child whose journey has been filled with both challenges and triumphs. Born with a striking birthmark, Myla was undiagnosed until she was six months old when doctors confirmed she had Sturge-Weber Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder present at birth and characterized by a port-wine stain birthmark on the forehead and upper eyelid on one side of the face. Alongside this condition, she also experiences global developmental delay, dystonia, bilateral hip dysplasia, and malformation of cortical development, all of which present unique hurdles in her daily life.

In 2024, Myla had a G-tube inserted to support her nutritional needs, a testament to her strength and adaptability. Looking ahead, she is preparing for her first hip surgery, scheduled for 2025, as part of her ongoing medical care. Despite these challenges, Myla is an incredibly joyful and determined child who radiates happiness and loves engaging with the world around her.

Her journey inspires those who know her, showcasing her ability to overcome adversity with a smile and an unbreakable spirit. Myla’s presence brightens every room, and her laughter and love remind everyone of the power of resilience and positivity.

Help us help Myla and her family with just some of the assistance and support they need. Myla and everyone at Ride for a Friend would like to extend their gratitude in advance for your time and engagement.
